The EU Public Country-by-Country Reporting (EU pCbCR) Directive mandates that large multinational enterprises publicly disclose key tax and financial data. The EU pCbCR is a regulation that remains one of the key topics in the transfer pricing landscape. As countries outside the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA) are generally unfamiliar with this regulatory framework, it is particularly important to raise awareness of pCbCR among Japanese-headquartered groups. Japanese Ultimate Parent Entities (UPEs) that maintain subsidiaries or permanent establishments in EU/EEA Member States may be obliged, under certain conditions, to publish their Country-by-Country Report in Germany.
